Acknowledgments

There are many people and organisations to be thanked for this site.

Funding and financial support

The site has been developed by the Environment Defenders Office Victoria. We are a community legal centre specialising in environmental law. We keep the doors open and employ lawyers and other staff through Community Legal Services Program Funding administered by Victoria Legal Aid, a public purpose grant from the Legal Services Board, other grants, memberships and donations. Occasionally our clients can even pay us some fees for our services. We rely heavily on community support in the form of memberships and donations. Find out more about us at www.edovic.org.au.

Financial assistance for this project has come from the Victoria Law Foundation and the Ian Potter Foundation.

Project development and coordination

The project worker responsible for this project is Simon Perraton. He does his best to respond to frequently changing ideas for the site from his boss, Brendan Sydes, Principal Solicitor of the EDO. Jode Cowie, our admin worker, and also Mandy Johnson, our office manager, do all the things that lawyers like Simon and Brendan find difficult, like sticking to schedules, administering finances and general organisational stuff.

Lots of our law student volunteers have chipped in as well. We have tried to list them and other contributors to the site below.

Paoli Smith gave us some assistance by designing the logo. Don't blame them for the rest of the design and layout of the site - we did that ourselves.

Community reference group

Early in 2009 a group of EDO's friends and colleagues met for a demonstration of an earlier version of the site. They gave us much needed and valuable feedback which made this site possible. Special thanks to Andrea Bolsh, Ian Penrose, Naomi Wynn, Byron Webb, Andrew Booth, George Ryan, Leonie Duncan.

Wiki software

This site is based on free open source wiki product, Dokuwiki. Dokuwiki is developed and maintained by a community of dedicated web programmers and developers. We think it is great, especially because it is free which means we can use our limited funds to focus on the content of the site rather than paying for software or ongoing licensing.

Past publishing projects

The initial content of this site is based on various printed publications, especially our “Introduction to Victoria's Key Environmental Laws”. This was up to its fourth edition in 2005. We won't be republishing it as we think that electronic publishing is better because it is cheaper, more readily updateable and more environmentally friendly.

Funders of past editions of the Introduction and other EDO publications include Victoria Law Foundation and the Potter Foundation, supporters of this project.

Contributors to past publications include: Sonja Harb, Annette Jones, Barnaby McIIrath, Tanja Niessen, Yoriko Otomo, Sue Robertson With thanks to Mandy Barhgate, Diva Gausch and Sarah Toohey.

Contributors to earlier editions include; Michael Aoun, Jenny Barnett, Megan Bowman, Julia Bruce, Rebecca Campbell, Maria Comino, Arnold Dix, Robin Dyall, Penny Flint, Jenny Harders, Mark Harris, Genevieve Hartley, Yvonne Lipianin, Chris Loorham, Simon Molesworth QC, Michael McNamara, Nicola Rivers, Clair Taylor and Campbell Thompson.
